St. Thomas Expansion – 1936/38 Magazine

STTCHC proposes to cancel its leases at the Magazine Street and Josephine Street sites totaling approximately 3,000 square feet and relocate all primary health care, cardiology and administrative functions (a combined net increase of over 15,000 square feet). This is to be accomplished through a capital building project acquisition and alteration/renovation (A/R) of a new site located within a short walking distance from STTCHC’s existing service site at 2010 Magazine Street. The capital building project business plan proposes renovation for the new site at 1938 Magazine Street that will allow STTCHC to relocate these functions into a new, renovated location consisting of 10,212 square feet. The new service site is centrally located and easily accessible to our patient user base, thereby encouraging the evolution of STTCHC serving as the medical home for the medically underserved and vulnerable populations of the New Orleans service area that in the past has used area hospital emergency rooms for primary health care. In this renovation project, STTCHC will increase the existing square footage by 85 percent, thereby allowing STTCHC to increase capacity and meet the current demand for services that has exploded following Hurricane Katrina and the post-storm aftermath.
